Species: Human/Magician
Canon: The Magicians
Canon Point: Season 4, episode 6
Character Age: 27
CRAU: No
CRAU Explanation: n/a
Character Appearance: Marina stands at 5'5", has medium length brown hair. She tends towards black or at least jewel tones.
Powers and Abilities: This information is from the Marina wiki for Timeline 40, but is still true of Timeline 23
As a Journeyman Hedge - Marina was a dangerously skilled magician and one of the most skilled Hedge Witches of the series. She was able to use spells capable of killing, telekinesis, banishment, memory manipulation, and other dangerous magic. After retaining her memories from Brakebills, she became even stronger, due to the added praxis of Brakebills' curriculum and structured magic adding onto her Hedge magic and practical experiences that came with it.
Gifted Intellect - Even when the full comprehension of magical theory taught at Brakebills University was removed from her memories, Marina was still exceptionally intelligent enough to relearn it's basics, notably advancing to the point where she was the self-proclaimed most powerful hedge witch in New York. As is the standard for all Magicians, Marina possessed an at least Above Average level of intelligence that enables her to grasp the concept of magic and apply it in the physical world. Marina's intellect and magical ability was boosted to surmountable levels after restoring her stolen Brakebills knowledge, covering magical praxis not readily accessible to her as a hedge.
She is also multilingual given a lot of the magic is in various languages.

Character Questions:
1. Who is the person your character is most bonded with from their canon? Or who is someone they miss the most? The person that she's most bonded with from their canon is probably Julia. Even though she never knew her, she had a significant affect on her. She'd used her as bait, but Julia was able to break free of the bondage devices used to tie her up and she healed the scar on her face and her nicotine addiction (which she didn't ask for). But she also told her the truth about what happened to the 40th version of herself and apologized, which hit a deeper part of her and made her feel a sort of kinship with her. Also they had to deal with the jumpscare that was the ghosts in the Brakebills library together.
The person she misses the most is Anna. That's because she's her girlfriend. They dated in Timeline 23, but to Marina's admission, she fucked it up. Now she's trying to keep her close again, but being sent back to Timeline 23 and then another Timeline where magic was illegal, it's been a bit of a stressful situation. She wants to get back for her birthday.
2. What are they most afraid of? Absolutely not having control or power. Before she could finish at Brakebills, they took her memory. Not all of it. They couldn't take it all because the magic to make a whole new life was too complex and complicated and it wouldn't last. So they took the necessary parts of it. They took the knowledge of how to do the magic, amputated it so she knew magic existed, but not how to perform it. Growing up with an alcoholic for a father certainly didn't help her need to amass power and influence and so the idea of having none of it is kind of a lot. She may have lived without magic for a while, but that doesn't mean she wants to do it.
3. What is their weakness? Emotionally, mentally and physically? She's never been particularly...good at showing her emotions. To anyone. She's had to be self sufficient since she was a kid, so showing anything vulnerable is difficult. But magic doesn't come from sunshine and daisies. It comes from suffering. She's also pretty quick to anger. Magically (which is also seeeemi physically) she cannot do certain magic on her own. If she does, the magic will burn her from the inside out and she'll become a Niffin (which is a creature that is just pure energy and does what it wants when it wants regardless of the consequences because those don't exist, mmkay?). But she's also not really that physically fit, so running for long periods of time or trying to fight someone physically stronger than her is definitely not going to work out for her in this world. It can occasionally be easy to mentally trap her in a 'I cannot say no to a challenge' mental space, so if you needed to manipulate her, that would be the best way.
4. What would make them happiest? Happiest. If Marina believed in happiness, her happiest thing would to be able to have the power to do what she wanted and still be loved by Anna.
5. What’s their type for a lover? Someone that's smart and can keep up with her, but is also vocal about their feelings for her. While she's awful at expressing her own feelings, she doesn't do too well with people that don't do that for her. She has to know.
